Kidney Transplant
A kidney transplant can be life-changing for people living with End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD). It offers freedom from dialysis and often restores energy, independence, and quality of life, as demonstrated by the patient above. At Carolina Nephrology, early transplant referral is essential to help you receive a kidney as soon as possible.
We work closely with leading transplant centers in our region, including the Prisma Health Transplant, Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Emory University/Piedmont Transplant in Atlanta, and others.
The journey to becoming active on the kidney transplant list can be complex and, at times, frustrating. Our team will guide you through each step, helping you complete the necessary evaluations, paperwork, and testing so you can move forward with confidence.
After your transplant, you will be followed by your transplant center for at least one year. During this time, the team will closely monitor your kidney function, adjust medications, and watch for any complications.
About one year after surgery, your care will transition back to us. We will continue to work hand-in-hand with your transplant team to provide expert, long-term care, helping you protect your new kidney and maintain your health for years to come.
Our physicians are committed to delivering compassionate, quality care to patients by using the best clinical data, education, and technology available.
We evaluate each patient individually and seek the best treatment to maintain and improve their quality of life.
